Jinyi began her journey in agriculture with a Bachelor of Engineering at the Shandong Agriculture University and was awarded the Chinese National Scholarship in 2010. After completing a Master of Agriculture at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 2015, Jinyi travelled to Perth to begin her PhD under the supervision of Prof Stephen Powles, Dr Qin Yu, Dr Heping Hand and Dr Danica Goggin at AHRI, UWA. Her PhD mainly concerns resistance mechanisms of Lolium rigidum to trifluralin. This includes the study of both target and non-target site resistance mechanisms, genetic inheritance and fitness cost.
